Very fun and very addicting

I have been thoroughly enjoying this game. I love the fast paced action and having to out-think the opponents in the middle of the fight. However there are times where discrestion is the better part of valor, so retreating has to be a must to consider in a zero chance situation. Love it. Will continue to play

Just what I wanted

This may not be up everyone's alley, but it's just the kind of thing I enjoy. Real-time naval combat with ships that approximately represent real historical warships, with tactical control that allows you to slow down, speed up, or pause time to plan your strategy, like having your destroyers carefully bait out the enemy torpedos so you can bring your cruisers closer without getting hit, or rush up and torpedo their transports. Start with command of one small ship and accrue "war bonds" (ie money) over time to "buy" a bigger fleet until you end up sailing around with five Yamatos and a dozen aircraft carriers. (At which point the game gets a bit boring, but that's because you've basically won already and are just putting off the final port captures because you're having fun curbstomping enemy fleets.) Give it a try if that sounds fun to you.

Very interesting.

Same quality of "atlantic fleet", but different... I like it a lot, so far. It is very addictive. :)

Not perfect, but good at what it is

This is not a simulation. This is not purely arcade. The ship combat models are surprisingly in-depth, but the gameplay is low fidelity... it's not quite an RTS, but it's also not not-an-RTS. What I'm trying to say is that the game captures the feel of naval warfare without going out of its way to model it in exacting detail. It's fun, and it forces you to think critically about how to rock-paper-scissors enemy fleets of various composition. Scootching around the world map reminds me of Mount and Blade's world view, except the battles feel more engaging and less rinse-and-repeat. Where the game falls down is in the little things: selecting and commanding ships to move or attack sometimes only makes the last ship in the selection do anything, and free repairs and recoverable sunken ships feel unrealistic. A little more polish would make this game all it could be.

Good game, some smaller problems

In general, I like this game. Either it is not a simulation game, the naval battles are challenging. However, there are two things I have problem with. In a campaign game, all the ships of your side are unlocked very early (I played a Pacific campaign with the Americans, and I unlocked the last battleships until Februar 1942) You don't get any new vessels after that. It is okay that you may have battleships and carriers early in the game, but it would be better if some types would appear later. There is another thing I don't quite understand. If you enter a port with heavily damaged ships, they are repaired automatically while you have a look on the available ships and visit the HQ in the port - this takes just minutes. When you leave the port after (because there is no option to wait in the port for longer), each ship is on maximal health. Why?
