Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II USM

Bought this to replace 2 prime lenses; the image quality of this L lens is superb, including when used with tele-extenders, having adjusted AF microadjustment. I,m talking here of RAW shooting & processing, to get the best result. Very happy with this purchase. Enclosed pic is at 200mm, full aperture, with 2x III extender.

I've used this already for trains. I've produced some very sharp photos with this brilliant lens.

If you don't need the extra cost or weight of the f2.8 version this is a superb lens for a variety of uses. Canon are a bit mean in not including a tripod collar but in practice it's not proven to be an issue. I can also comfortably carry this around for days out whilst paired to an EOS 6D full frame, and I'm not an Olympic weightlifter.

This lens is very very sharp and the image quality is almost the same as the f2.8. That said it is a great vacation telephoto lens to take on a vacation at 1/2 the weight of it\'s f 2.8 big brother. If you shoot weddings or concerts the 2.8 is the better choice. If you are a vacationer and shoot in daylight your back might prefer the f4 IS 70-200.
