Huawei FreeBuds 5 tilbyder en interessant balance mellem komfort og ydeevne for dem, der foretrækker åbne øretelefoner. Batterilevetiden er imponerende med op til 30 timer i alt, og samtalekvaliteten roses konsekvent som fremragende. Lyden er overraskende god for åbne øretelefoner, med dyb bas ned til 16Hz og LDAC-understøttelse. Købere skal dog forstå, at det åbne øre-design har iboende begrænsninger: den aktive støjreduktion er svag sammenlignet med lukkede øretelefoner, og der er ingen passiv isolering. Det unikke, organiske design er kontroversielt og passer muligvis ikke komfortabelt til alle øreformer. Disse øretelefoner er ideelle som et andet par til samtaler, gåture eller arbejde, hvor omgivelsesopmærksomhed er vigtig, men ikke som primært valg for audiofile lytteoplevelser eller flyrejser.

The design of Huawei's FreeBuds 5 headphones is unlike anything we've seen from most competitors and even the brand itself. These open-ear buds aren't perfect, and they won't suit everyone, but it's important they exist as they offer something different, which, hopefully, will encourage other brands to experiment more with colour, form and function.

The Huawei FreeBuds 5 are a complete rethinking of the FreeBuds design language, with a rather unique look compared to the rest of the true wireless competition. It’s not just a fashion choice either, with a comfortable open-ear fit, impressive audio performance and handy smarts. It’s just a shame the battery life dwindles so much when the (not quite successful) ANC is active.
