AKG K72 er en prisvenlig og komfortabel studiehovedtelefon med lang ledning og lav vægt. Lydkvaliteten er rimelig for prisen, men mellemtonen er uklar, især på vokaler og instrumenter. Isolationen er middel, da ørepuderne ikke altid slutter tæt, især for brillebrugere. Den faste ledning er praktisk i studiet, men mindre egnet til mobil brug. Byggekvaliteten er mest plastik, hvilket gør hovedtelefonen mindre robust. Godt valg til billig og komfortabel tracking, men ikke til kritisk mixning.

They may not have been expensive, but what good is it if they don't have bass? I might not know much about this; I'm an amateur, making music as a hobby in Ableton Live, and I've only recently been using these headphones. In the final mix, I boost the bass because there's not enough of it with the reference K72 headphones, and what's the result? The music mixed this way sounds terrible on another audio source because there's way too much bass, dominating the entire project. It's a trap... This is a serious problem for me; I'm not happy with these headphones. They're basically useless.

Without being exceptional, these headphones do the job, reproducing bass very well even at low amplification. Although it's not dramatic, I was a little disappointed with the highs, which were crushed by midrange that was a little too powerful.
