Tabac is a real oldie, released in 1959. It opens with a burst of aldehydes backed by lavender for a very fresh and clean feeling. As it dries down, the carnation note takes the spotlight and provides a nice bite to the fragrance. Finally, the base notes appear providing a smooth mix of musk, oakmoss and mild tobacco. Tabac isn't a strong tobacco fragrance. The carnation is what really stands out. Eventually, the carnation disappears and only a smooth woody mix remains. Being an aftershave, longevity is short - about 3 hours. Projection is strong for the first 30 minutes or so after which is comes much closer. As an aftershave, it's versatile - good for any time of the day or night, any day in the year, hot or cold. Tabac is an excellent aftershave and is different from the typical grandpa juice's green and aromatic scent.

If you don't want to spend much but still want to smell masculine, authoritative, elegant, and fresh, then this is the right choice for you. I received it as a gift and I like the scent. The opening is a bit sharp, but the drydown is quite pleasant. Definitely recommended! You can easily test it in almost any drugstore and buy it right away.

Bought as a present for Pops, it is a classic old school scent. It has a classy refined masculine woody soapy scent and can be splashed on after shaving to good effect. Pops was happy.
