Lots of sour citrus to start. Very masculine leaning. Awesome for spring and early summer for sure. More casual in my opinion. In the dry down light citrus and woods. For the price this is a try before you buy for sure. Get a sample or two to make sure this is what you are looking for. IMO this is just an OK juice. Nothing overwhelming or "Must Own". Enjoy!

On me, 1872 kicks off like an aromatic fougere, lavender with herbs over deep green geranium, along the lines of Brut or Duc De Vervins. A complicated mix of darker elements soon overwhelms the lavender. I can't figure out all the specific notes, but it all comes together to form something that reminds me of chocolate, coffee, and leather mixing with the green geranium and herbs. Given time, the citrus, fruit, and floral elements push through, adding a sweet layer on top. I don't get much of a notable base - things just seem to peter out at this point, even when I spray quite a bit. I'm a fan of classic aromatic fougeres and 1872 is an interesting one with its leathery coffee and sweet fruit additions, but I find its quick fade rather frustrating when its price should include a proper, long-lasting luxury concentration. But I'm still voting thumbs up because it does smell great.

This perfume is really beautiful, I feel it could be unisex. It does cost a lot, but worth it to have the natural ingredients and classy, sophisticated fragrance. Love it!

Opens up with more fruit than you could ever want, dries down to florals and herbs. An admirable spring feminine, no doubt, and long-lasting. But... you know. If we're going to persist with binary-gendered fragrance labelling, this one needs to decide which side of the fence it sits on.

Starts off mature/old-school, and manly, reminds me of Armani pH or Acqua di Parma Colonia. Quickly dries down to something more modern, clean and fresh, like Acqua di Gio. Feels more dressed up and formal but should be versatile for all climates. Average projection but good, all workday longevity.
