Pirelli Winter 270 SottoZero Serie II

Not a great winter tire. We have these mounted on a 2011 A4 Quattro. We live in Montreal and have had 3-4 feet of snow this year. I immediately noticed that these were very prone to spin and understeer in any depth of snow due to the close tread pattern and rounded edges. Ice grip is not great either. I already hit a curb and broke a rim. Our 2003 A4 Quattro had Pirelli Winter Carving - type tires and they stuck like staples. My FWD passat with Goodyear Nordic tires grip, steer, stop, and track better than these at 1/5 the price. Same noise level as well so no benefit there. Also, the Asymetric tread means one side is pumping water away from the center of the tire and the other is pumping water inwards if they are mounted in a mirror. Not recommended at all.

For a sportscar like the AMG GTs a rather soft tire in comparison to the Michelin PSS in summer. The winter is with not much snow. But the temperatures are always between -15 and +5 in during the winter.

Pirelli Sottozero winter tires are the worst tires I have ever had on a car and this is a REAL review with 3 Quebec winters on a 2011 A4 Quattro. I am glad to get rid of them. Very close tread pattern prone to spin with ROUND EDGES (look at photo) prone to understeer in any depth of snow. You will be taking any snowy corner at walking speed. Noisy and wear out like butter (saw the tread bars in less than 20KM). Ice grip is no better than our all season summer tires (I tried both on the same day). Update: Bought a C300 4Matic. The dealer recommended these awful tires and I refused. They put on Continental Conti Winter Contact 830. Much better tire. After 1 winter driving, no understeer, no spin, and quieter. I will have to see how they wear.
